San Jose Beautiful

An organization staffed by the City of San Jose, but has a board composed of residents. San Jose Beautiful provides grants for beautification projects. Grant cycles occur two to three times each year.

Making a Difference

San Jose Beautiful has funded hundreds of volunteer beautification projects throughout the City, including:

• Landscaping at Horace Mann Elementary
• Beautification of vacant lots (such as at Bird and Fisk Avenue)
• Plant Baskets along Lincoln Avenue
• Landscaping outside community centers

Typical grants range from $200 to $2,000. A grant requires matching dollars for which volunteer hours and donated materials are credited.

San Jose Beautiful Projects in Brookwood Terrace

In June of 1995, the San Jose Beautiful Committee awarded BTNA with a $2,700 grant for the landscaping of the William Street Bridge over Coyote Creek. For more details, refer to the William Street Bridge Restoration.
